YB Puan Thulsi Thivani a/p Manogaran, Perak State Assembly Member for Buntong, officially launched the Perak Clean and Healthy Local Agenda Program (Perak Best) – Circular Economy for Strata Residences at the Ipoh City Council level today. Attendees included council members, City Secretary Tuan Haji Ahmad Munir, and senior MBI officials.

Program Goals:

  1. Circular Economy (Waste to Wealth): Promote recycling in strata residences, converting waste to cash to boost the local economy.

  2. Ipoh Smart City Vision 2030: Support Ipoh’s goal of becoming a sustainable, low-carbon city, aligned with Malaysia’s target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030.

  3. National Recycling Target (40% by 2025): Advance recycling efforts to support Malaysia’s Twelfth Plan and UN Sustainable Development Goals, implementing the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles.

Impact to Date:

  • Recycling Efforts: Over 7,300 metric tons recycled, reducing 4,217 metric tons of CO₂ emissions. Public earnings from recycled items have reached RM 1.45 million.
  • Used Cooking Oil Collection: 458.63 metric tons, cutting CO₂ by 6.49 metric tons and generating RM 1.39 million in payments.
  • E-Waste Collection: 466.79 metric tons collected, lowering CO₂ by 406.1 metric tons with RM 62,125 paid to participants.

Since 2021, circular economy initiatives have expanded across businesses, residences, schools, and government entities, now reaching Buntong Harmoni flats to set an example for other strata residences.

Special thanks to the Buntong Harmoni management, residents, and partners Biovisma, Edsha Solutions, and Tetra Pak for their support. Together, we aim to make Ipoh a thriving, sustainable smart city by 2030.
