Tuan Ahmad Munir bin Ishak, the City Secretary, attended the Townhall Session on the Proposal for the Installation of Traffic Lights and the Implementation of One-Way Streets at Jalan Perajurit and its Surroundings, Taman Perak. Also present at the event were YB Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, State Assemblyman for Canning and Deputy Speaker of the Perak State Legislative Assembly; YB Howard Lee Chuan How, Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timur; and Tuan A’zman bin Mohd Harun, Senior Director – Technical of the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Approximately 40 residents attended the townhall session. During this session, MBI informed the attendees about the planned initiatives, which include the installation of traffic lights at Jalan Perajurit and the proposal to establish one-way streets at Off Jalan Perajurit, part of Lebuh 2, Lintasan Perajurit 6, and Persiaran Perajurit 6 in Taman Perak.
The proposed implementation is a response to complaints received by MBI regarding accidents at the Jalan Perajurit intersection. Vehicles have faced difficulties entering and exiting residential areas at this intersection, and traffic congestion occurs during peak hours. Additionally, there have been complaints about the lack of parking near nearby shop houses.
With the proposed traffic coordination measures, it is hoped that the incidence of accidents can be reduced, while ensuring increased comfort and safety for road users. Furthermore, an additional 50 parking spaces will be created in the existing area.
