The Ipoh City Council has responded to the Prime Minister’s call to strengthen and empower small traders, particularly in food courts and stalls. The Jalan Jelapang Food Court Upgrade Project in Ipoh was completed on May 16, 2024, at a cost of RM482,200.00, following the Madani Stall Repair and Upgrade Project guidelines under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

The project was inaugurated by the Mayor of Ipoh, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud, and attended by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Mazlan bin Abd. Rahman, Tuan Wong Kar Keat (Chief WHIP Council Member of MBI), Clr. Ahmad Khair Faizal bin Yahaya (Council Member of MBI), along with senior directors and department heads of MBI.

The project included upgrading the roof, stall interiors, electrical wiring, painting, installing chairs and tables, replacing roller shutters/doors, and floor tiling, adhering to the Madani Stall Project Scope.

The old Jalan Jelapang Food Court, now renamed Medan Niaga Pokok Ceri, offers a more comfortable and modern environment with improved facilities, ensuring higher cleanliness standards. This initiative aims to boost visitor numbers and positively impact the local economy by attracting more customers. The Ipoh City Council remains committed to supporting such initiatives for public welfare.
