The newest, hippest hangout in town has finally opened its doors. A creative concept, a cafe housed in converted shipping containers. This cafe, named LalaLand, takes its inspiration from the 2016 romantic musical film of the same name, which starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

MyIpoh was given the opportunity to take part in the opening ceremony that took place on the 13/2/23. The event was officiated over by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud, who is the Mayor of Ipoh.

It was made using seven 40-foot containers, and it was customised with ventilation and air conditioning. This idea was the brainchild of 24-year-old Mark Chong and his business partner Mr. Joseph Choy. This café will be serving Western and Asian delight cuisine, and it is easily able to handle up to 200 customers at the same time. After a long and stressful day at work, you can unwind with some shisha which is available at the restaurant. The outdoor space may also be utilised as a social place for events, outdoor cinema, sports live stream, pop up booths, and it may even be intended to be an Instagramable destination in order to attract younger generations.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with them.
