Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud, Mayor of Ipoh, attended the Perak National Chinese Orchestra Festival 2024, which earned recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records as the Largest Chinese Orchestra Performance during a festival celebration.
The event was also graced by distinguished guests, including YB Tuan Chaw Kam Foon, State Assemblyman for Menglembu; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Spri Chooi Yoke Kwan; and MBI council members.
This landmark event aligns seamlessly with UNESCO’s designation of Ipoh as a City of Music, showcasing the city’s vibrant arts and culture.
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) actively encourages residents, particularly young people, to engage in musical arts and share local cultural performances with global audiences through social media. MBI council members, in collaboration with organizations like the Ipoh Chinese Cultural and Orchestra Association, remain committed to promoting Ipoh’s cultural identity.
This groundbreaking performance, a first for Ipoh City, was highly anticipated by its community. Achieving recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records is expected to boost tourism, strengthen the local economy, and inspire young people to take part in enriching cultural activities.
