Starting January 1, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has adopted a fully cashless system for all ticket purchases.
The cashless payment system is now in effect across the Klang Valley, Northern, Southern, and East Coast regions.
According to KTMB Group CEO, Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, this shift is designed to streamline operations while aligning with Malaysia’s vision of becoming a digital-first, cashless society.
To assist passengers during this transition, KTMB has partnered with local banks to offer account registration services at select stations for those without debit cards. Furthermore, station staff are on hand to guide customers in using the KTMB Mobile App (KITS), buying tickets through the app, or accessing kiosk machines for ticketing.
