Each year on 22 April, around 1 billion individuals across more than 190 countries takes action to raise awareness of the climate crisis and bring about behavioural change to protect the environment.
Participation in Earth Day can take many forms, including classroom projects like creating a mini vegetable garden or even picking up litter. People also volunteer to plant trees, join other ecological projects that increases environmental literacy and bring together people to address issues such as biodiversity loss, deforestation, and other challenges.
Keeping true to the objectives of World Earth Day, the Ipoh City Town Council (Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh) will be carrying out a soft launch of World Earth Day on the 21st and 22nd of April 2022. The launching will be officiated by YB Encik Mohd Akmal Bin Kamaruddin who is the Head of the Health, Science, Environmental and Green Technology Department in Perak. This event will be held at Kinta Riverwalk and member of the public are encourage to join this event.
