Batik Air inaugurated its new Singapore–Ipoh route yesterday, offering travellers—both locals and international visitors—another convenient gateway to explore Ipoh, fondly known as “The City That Tin Built”.

The maiden flight received a warm and festive welcome at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, marking a milestone moment for Perak’s tourism landscape. This enhanced connectivity is set to boost Perak’s regional accessibility and strengthen the state’s long-term tourism strategy ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Leading the reception were Perak State Exco for Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development YB Loh Sze Yee, Tourism Malaysia Northern Region Director Abdul Hadi Che Man, and Batik Air’s Head of Marketing Ms. Bavani Veeriah, together with their respective teams.

Passengers were treated to a vibrant arrival celebration featuring cultural performances, destination-themed visuals, and the delightful presence of Perak’s tourism mascot, Kopiro the Tapir, who added cheer with interactive photo opportunities.

The launch of the direct Ipoh–Singapore service is a strategic boost for Perak, especially as Singapore continues to be Malaysia’s strongest international source market. With improved air access, travellers from Singapore and beyond can now enjoy effortless weekend escapes, family getaways, eco-nature retreats, heritage explorations, culinary adventures, and event-based tourism across Perak’s diverse districts. The route also enhances business travel and supports cross-border economic activity.

Tourism Perak is optimistic that this new connection will play a key role in achieving its 2026 targets of 10.5 million domestic tourists and 1.1 million international arrivals. With Ipoh’s strategic position, strengthened air links, and growing tourism appeal, Perak is well-placed to support Malaysia’s nationwide momentum leading into Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

It is hoped that more regional airlines will follow suit in introducing flights to Ipoh, further elevating the state’s tourism sector and overall economic growth.
