Selkirk, a global leader in pickleball equipment, has officially announced its sponsorship of the pioneering school-based pickleball development initiative in Perak, Malaysia. This partnership supports the efforts of 002 Pickleball Club & Academy in introducing and expanding the sport across schools in the state, in alignment with the Perak State Education Department’s mission to integrate pickleball into the school ecosystem.
The Perak State Education Department first approached 002 Pickleball Club & Academy in March to initiate a structured pickleball program for schools. Since then, 002 has successfully introduced the sport to 15 schools across Perak, conducting demonstrations, teacher engagement sessions, and designing foundational development frameworks.
After months of searching for an equipment partner committed to supporting school sports development, Selkirk Malaysia became the first paddle company to step forward. Their sponsorship marks a major milestone for both school-level initiatives and the broader growth of pickleball in Malaysia.
“Selkirk’s sponsorship is a pivotal breakthrough,” said 002 Pickleball Club & Academy. “Their belief in this mission empowers us to provide schools with the resources needed to offer meaningful access to the sport. We sincerely appreciate their commitment to supporting pickleball development in Perak.”
As part of this collaboration, 002 Pickleball Club & Academy will hand over six Selkirk paddles to each of the initial 15 schools during an official ceremony on 14 November 2025. The event will take place at the AC Centre Court of AC Hotel by Marriott, which has generously sponsored the venue and refreshments for all attendees. This ceremony marks the first formal distribution of pickleball equipment under the program.
002 will also continue its outreach to an additional five schools, bringing the total number of supported schools to 20. Altogether, the initiative will distribute 120 Selkirk paddles and 200 pickleball balls, equipping schools with essential tools to begin training and nurturing young players.
With Selkirk’s support, combined with the leadership of the Perak State Education Department and the on-ground implementation by 002 Pickleball Club & Academy, this initiative aims to cultivate youth talent, promote active and healthy lifestyles, and position pickleball as one of Malaysia’s most promising emerging sports.
“May this be the beginning of sustained pickleball growth in schools across Perak,” 002 added. “We look forward to empowering students, teachers, and communities through this meaningful partnership.”
