Introducing Helmet Café, where an industrial-themed ambiance centered around safety helmets creates a unique and unforgettable experience. This café, located in Ulu Kinta, Perak, seamlessly blends the rich aroma of coffee and the enticing scent of freshly baked pastries with an extraordinary collection of biker helmets.
The helmet collection is nothing short of impressive. From vintage helmets dating back to the late 1960s, meticulously preserved in perfect condition, to cutting-edge custom helmets in full-face and open-face designs, Helmet Café offers an intriguing display for enthusiasts. Additionally, helmets resulting from past collaborations between the café and other companies are proudly exhibited, adding a touch of innovation to the décor.
The passion behind this café’s concept originated with Bardrull Hishaam Tay, the owner, who relocated from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh with his family. His fascination with collecting biker helmets, stemming from his interest in antiques, has led to an extensive collection of over 500 helmets, with 200 to 300 on display at any given time. The café’s interior is kept fresh as different sets of helmets take turns in the spotlight.
While the displayed helmets are not available for purchase, Helmet Café caters to bikers’ needs with a dedicated shop on the first floor. Prices for these unique helmets vary depending on market demand, as well as considerations of quality, brand, and age, as expertly explained by Farra Sabrina Tay, Mr. Tay’s eldest daughter, who manages the café.
Beyond its distinctive décor, Helmet Café entices visitors with a menu that offers a delectable array of options. Guests can savor Ipoh white coffee transformed into a delightful frappé, indulge in a rich chocolate drink, and explore a variety of mouth-watering dishes, including cheesecakes, chicken Bolognese, carbonara, baked cheesy rice, and an authentic mushroom soup paired with garlic croissants.
This culinary experience, combined with the café’s unique theme, has attracted both locals and tourists alike to this splendid establishment. Situated on Jalan Tambun (Route A13), right across from The Haven, Helmet Café, managed by Mr. Tay and his family, eagerly awaits your visit. Whether you’re a biking enthusiast, a coffee lover, or simply in search of a one-of-a-kind dining experience, stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, relax in the cozy ambiance, and marvel at the extensive collection of helmets on display.
