YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, officiated the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Development of the Parking Complex and Commercial Space at Jalan Panglima, Ipoh, earlier this morning.
Also present at the event were YB Puan Sandrea Ng, Chairperson of the Perak State Housing and Local Government Committee; YB Puan Jenny Choi, Deputy Speaker of the Perak State Assembly; YBhg Datuk Mohd Zamri bin Mat Zain, Deputy Secretary-General (Management and Development) of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government; YBhg Tuan Zamakhshari bin Hanipah, Mayor of Ipoh; and YBhg Datuk Wong Seng Tong, Deputy Executive Chairman of GD Properties Group.
The development of this parking complex and commercial space is an initiative by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), and its construction is being carried out by the private sector through a Private Financing Initiative (PFI) model by GD Mass Development Sdn Bhd.
This new infrastructure project, aimed at providing convenience for visitors to the city of Ipoh, involves a total cost of RM15 million and is expected to be completed within 15 months.
The development will feature a 5-storey structure on a 0.8-acre site, offering 353 parking bays and commercial spaces on the ground and rooftop levels. The rooftop will house a creative cultural centre and food retail outlets.
With the construction of this multi-storey parking facility, it is expected to help resolve parking issues and traffic congestion, particularly in the tourist hotspot of Old Town Ipoh. This area holds great potential due to its well-established infrastructure network and its popularity among tourists.
