MBI Enforces Demolition of Illegal Structures

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has carried out the Demolition Operation for Unauthorized Structures Phase 1 of 2025 from February 17 to 24, 2025. This operation involved the demolition of nine structures used as animal enclosures, storage units, and vehicle parking sheds on public reserve land.

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for demolition operations includes the issuance of a Demolition Notice under the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974 (Act 133), with a compliance period of 30 days. Cases may also be granted an extension for compliance at MBI’s discretion. The cases involved in this operation had been granted extensions for over a year.

The operation was carried out by approximately 90 personnel, with the involvement of multiple agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Perak Water Board (LAP), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the District and Land Office (PDT), and the Perak Land and Mines Office (PTG).

Each demolition operation commenced at 9:00 AM and concluded at approximately 1:00 PM.
