Ipoh City Council (MBI), in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), carried out a joint operation to address homelessness in key public areas, including around Hotel Lotte, Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar, and Jalan Foo Yet Kai.

The operation, led by MBI’s Enforcement and Safety Director, involved 24 personnel from various agencies, supported by logistics teams and cleaning units to conduct thorough sanitation at the identified locations.

Beyond enforcement and public cleaning, the initiative also focused on welfare and support, adopting a more humane and comprehensive social intervention approach for the homeless community. During the operation, eight individuals were detained for urine drug screening—one was taken for further action by AADK, while the remaining individuals were referred to JKM for follow-up care and appropriate assistance.

This integrated effort reflects MBI’s ongoing commitment to working closely with relevant agencies to manage social issues effectively, while ensuring public spaces remain clean, safe, and conducive for the community.
