Members of the Family Wellness Club gathered with a shared purpose—to extend warmth and festive cheer to the residents of Gopeng Old Folks Home in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations. The volunteers assembled early to prepare meal packets consisting of meehoon, fried chicken, chocolates, and beverages, along with ang pows as tokens of goodwill.

Upon their arrival at approximately 10:30 a.m., the group was warmly received by the home’s manager. The residents, anticipating the occasion, congregated in the hall with enthusiasm. The visit commenced with a sing-along session featuring Chinese New Year songs, during which many of the elderly residents joyfully participated. Some even engaged in dancing, further enlivening the atmosphere.

Throughout the visit, the volunteers took the opportunity to interact with the residents, engaging in heartfelt conversations and fostering a sense of companionship. They then proceeded to serve the prepared meals and shared the dining experience, creating a warm and inclusive environment.

As the event drew to a close, ang pows were distributed to the residents, accompanied by well wishes for a prosperous and joyous Chinese New Year. The expressions of gratitude and the evident happiness on the residents’ faces were a poignant reminder of the significance of such initiatives.

The Family Wellness Club members departed with a deep sense of fulfillment, appreciative of the opportunity to make a positive impact. Their visit not only brought joy to the elderly residents but also reinforced the values of compassion, community, and the spirit of giving during the festive season.
