The launch ceremony of the Rail Tourism Package in conjunction with Visit Perak 2024 took place at Laman Budaya, Galeri Perbandaran Taiping. The launch was officiated by YB Mr. Loh Sze Yee, Chairman of the Tourism, Industry, Investment, and State Development Corridor Committee of Perak, along with Mr. Mohd Zain Mat Taha, Chief Operating Officer of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), representing YBhg. Datuk Rani Hisham Samsudin, Chief Executive Officer of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Group (KTMB). The event was also attended by YB Mr. Ong Seng Guan, Pokok Assam State Assemblyman, YBhg. Dato’ Kamil bin Dato’ Haji Syafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tourism Perak, Ms. Nurmalis binti Musa, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, the President of the Council, representatives of district officials, and tourism industry enthusiasts in the state of Perak.
The Rail Tourism Package is a new product developed by Tourism Perak in collaboration with KTMB, serving as an alternative mode to attract tourists to explore the state of Perak by train. The selection of Taiping as the launch location for the Rail Tourism Package is significant due to the presence of the first railway track in Malaysia, located in Taiping, namely the Port Weld (Kuala Sepetang) railway track.
