PERODUA KIAM FATT MOTOR SDN BHD’s commendable effort, using its own budget and initiative, sets a positive example for other companies. Originally a hotspot for illegal waste dumping frequently cleaned by MBI, this location has been transformed into a beautiful, useful area due to the company’s initiative.
This collaboration is expected to catalyze further partnerships between MBI and companies in achieving a clean and prosperous Ipoh.
By the end of 2020, there were 1,672 illegal dumping hotspots within the Council’s administrative area. Since 2021, these locations have been gradually reduced to only 120 remaining hotspots.
This achievement significantly supports MBI’s goal of making Ipoh a clean and smart city. MBI has implemented various programs to tackle illegal waste disposal, including introducing free garden and bulk waste collection services in 2021.
Seventeen open trucks have been designated for this service, operating smoothly according to schedule. Additionally, MBI has distributed 114,011 garbage bins to Ipoh residents since 2021, and 1,756 ‘No Dumping’ signs have been installed at illegal dumping hotspots.
MBI has taken numerous initiatives to make Ipoh a clean, safe, and smart city. The community and private sector must play an active role in supporting this mission.
