Come and enjoy a night which will bring you down memory lane of the “yesteryears” of Ipoh greats.
Among them are local deejays, great music, homegrown beauties, live-bands and classic cars in the “all in one” event.
The Retrobeat (Part 2) will be held on August 30, 2022 at the Royal Perak Golf Club’s Jubilee Ballroom from 7pm till 12am.
For those who remember, Retrobeat Part 1 was held at the Impiana Hotel in 2019. Then the Covid-19 pandemic hit and the rest is history.
However, the grand occasion is themed “Night of memories” in conjunction with the 65th Merdeka Day celebrations.
According to the organising team led by Ipoh’s very own KT Pillai who is also Ipoh’s own homegrown deejay and master of ceremonies, they hope to reminisce the ‘Good, Old & Gold’ vibrant days of Ipoh & the state of Perak at the event.
“We want to bring back priceless memories in the entertainment/music/beauty industries be it live bands, emcees, deejays, pageantry, classic cars and more,” he said.
Among the highlights in the live band segment includes popular and talented live bands from the Eighties and nineties era. They will perform and serenade the audience in evergreen and chart toppers.
Next is the “Fashion Extravaganza* which will showcase former Miss Perak Queens to parade in retro and cultural outfits.
Meanwhile, the screening of a six (6) minute video entitled *Down Memory Lane Video Montage* on Ipoh- places of interest, Old Town- Concubine Lane, tin mining activities, classic cars will proceed.
Several deejays representing the Silver State DJs will take you down time.
These were the deejays who made Ipoh city entertainment night spots active by re-spinning popular & retro hits from ABBA, Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire, ELO, Madonna, MJ & more.
For those who can remember, the Apple Jam, Palm Groove Disco, Excelsior Club, Car Disco, Basement, Coliseum, Kampar Club, Surf Disco were among the hot locations.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s leading entertainer Hilmi Gimmick will also feature at the showcase.
Upon arrival, guests will be able to admire a parade of classic cars which will be on display at the main entrance area of RPCG.
The event is a PR Events & Sapphire Entertainment collaboration with the Royal Perak Golf Club.
