The Ipoh City Council (MBI) is continuing to foster patriotism among city residents through its Kibar Jalur Gemilang 2026 campaign, held in conjunction with this year’s National Month celebrations.

As part of the initiative, Jalur Gemilang flags have been installed throughout Ipoh to instil and strengthen love for the country, while encouraging residents and business owners to join in flying the national flag throughout National Month.

Mayor of Ipoh, YBhg. Tuan Zamakhshari bin Hanipah, said MBI hopes the initiative will encourage residents to express their love, pride and loyalty to the nation by flying the Jalur Gemilang at their homes and business premises.

“At the MBI level, a total of 3,500 Jalur Gemilang have been installed. We hope this spirit can be extended to the wider community so that they, too, will join in flying the flag,” he said.

“MBI has also distributed 5,000 letters to business premises to encourage them to fly the Jalur Gemilang. We believe the involvement of all parties can further strengthen the spirit of patriotism and love for the country,” he added.

The campaign was officially launched today in front of the MBI Meeting Hall, officiated by Tuan Zamakhshari. The launch was also attended by City Secretary Tuan A’zman bin Mohd Harun; YBhg. Clr. Dato’ Mazlan bin Abd Rahman; Chief Whip of MBI Councillors Clr Tuan Wong Kar Keat; other Council Members; and MBI Department Heads.

The event featured a symbolic handover of the Jalur Gemilang to the MBI Marching Contingent, followed by a guard-of-honour march by the MBI Foot Drill Contingent, and the presentation of flags to Council Members, Department Heads and official MBI vehicles.

MBI said the campaign reflects close cooperation between the council, the community and various stakeholders in nurturing love for the country, while encouraging fuller participation from residents and the business sector.

The council hopes the campaign will continue to ignite patriotism, strengthen national pride, and encourage more Ipoh residents to take part in National Month 2026 by flying the Jalur Gemilang , stressing that the act is not merely symbolic, but a reflection of gratitude, unity, patriotism and Malaysians’ love for their homeland
