On 5 November, the streets of Ipoh burst with color as cyclists gathered for Humanity Ride 2023.

To commemorate the 555th Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurb in 2024, a celebration of the Sikhism founder’s birth, this cycling event was organized by Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh for the youth of the community to participate in healthy and purposeful activities.

Khuswindera Singh, Ahli Dewan Belia Perak 2023/2024 N.30 Buntong and also the head of the Buntong Branch of the Malaysian Indian Youth Council (MIYC), which is the largest Indian youth-based national organization in Malaysia, played a pivotal role in making this event happen.

The MIYC’s mission is to raise awareness and empower Malaysian Indian youths, helping them improve their socio-economic status. The organization aims to guide these youths on the path to self-empowerment. Being both the chairman of the MIYC and the co-coordinator of Humanity Ride 2023, Mr. Khuswindera’s dedication was instrumental in making the event a resounding success. Unlike typical races, Humanity Ride 2023 was not a competition, but an attempt to bring the community together.

The journey began at Gurdwara Sahib Menglembu, taking cyclists through scenic routes before the event concluded at Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh. It was a day of exercise, laughter, and connections within a diverse community.

Humanity Ride 2023 was a unique opportunity to pedal with a greater purpose, nurturing harmony and fostering a stronger sense of community. My Ipoh wholeheartedly applauds the dedicated organizers for their remarkable achievements in making this event a reality and eagerly looks forward to the exciting initiatives they have in the pipeline for the future.
