Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, who was born in Ipoh rose to fame as a globalsuperstar in Hollywood, will be honoured as Times Magazine’s Icon of 2022. This comes after she was named one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2022” in May 2022.
She made her debut in Hong Kong action films in the middle of the 1980s and featured alongside Jet Li in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, threw herself into a moving car driven by Jackie Chan in Supercop, and leaped off a building with Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies.
Besides Crazy Rich Asians, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh’s other big film roles are Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Memoirs of a Geisha.
Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh expressed her gratitude to the magazine for the title by posting it on her Instagram account.
