It is a goal of the Perak State Government to plant 2.5 million trees this year.
Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, YAB Menteri Besar of Perak, said that the state government had set a goal to plant 10 million trees in the state in 5 years, or 2 million trees per year.
“In 2021, we planted 2.17 million trees over 5,568.01 hectares, meeting our goal. This compares to 2.33 million trees planted across 6,152 hectares in the state in 2020. So, this year I expect that we will be able to reach the aim of roughly 2.5 million trees,” he stated during a news conference in Taman Eko Rimba Kledang Saiong.
YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad also inaugurated the Water Head Early Warning System (EWS) and the Malaysia Greening Program’s 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign for 2023.
