Established in 1990 in Kuala Lumpur Mydin Cendol has been around for more than three decades now. In 1994, Haji Mydin bin Hassan, the founder of Mydin Cendol decided to move his cendol and ABC business to Ipoh and ever since then all citizens around Ipoh have been in for a treat.
One of the few types of dessert that you can find at Mydin Cendol Special’s stall is their famous ABC (ais batu campur) where shaved ice is served with green jelly, red beans, freshly roasted nuts which are coated with sweet evaporated milk along with gula Melaka and sweet corn that will leave you craving for more as it did me.
It has been the locals’ favourite for years now as its traditional luscious taste throughout decades always served as comfort food as well as a chilling dessert to all, especially during the heatwave that we are currently experiencing.
Mydins’ Cendol is also one of a kind with its authentic cendol which I personally loved which is shaved ice covered in palm sugar and coconut milk royally dripping down its side and topped with fluffy green jelly noodles to compliment the crunch of the shaved ice. Their traditional cendol can also be topped with any assortment of your choice like glutinous rice (pulut), red bean and not forgetting fresh corn if you are looking to add something exciting to your cendol!
Mydin Cendol Special is only closed once a week that is every Monday so if you are ever looking for a lip-smacking dessert, Mydin Cendol Special will not disappoint but I warn you of their lengthy queue which I totally understand, who would not want a taste of a traditional yet delightful dessert that will surely satisfy your cravings!
