Ms. Renita Rhea, a My Ipoh reader, contacted us after her neighbourhood was inundated by yesterday’s downpour. She mentioned that the flooding was caused by a retention pond and underground pipeline system that had not been properly maintained. She added, “A huge flash flood happened two years ago, and after social media messages and videos went viral, MBI arrived to help repair the flap gates”. Every time is starts to rain the residents fear a flash flood.
When questioned whether she has filed any complaints with the appropriate authorities? She answered that she did, and MBI had taken action, but nothing had come of it. She stressed that she had filed several complaints with the appropriate authorities, but that nothing had been done to address her concerns.
We are hoping that the relevant agencies would step forward to assist the residents of Taman Suria.
