Yang Amat Mulia Raja Dato’ Sri Yong Sofia Binti Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah together with the owners of Restoran Vegas @ Canning Garden, Mr. Yoong Ong Swai & Mrs. Maggie organised a special lunch treat for 21 senior citizens from Rumah Seri Kenangan Ulu Kinta.
The event began with the arrival of the senior citizens who were welcomed by Yang Amat Mulia Raja Dato’ Sri Yong Sofia Binti Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, the owners of Restoran Vegas @ Canning Garden and the lion dance troupe, followed by a sumptuous lunch.
The senior citizens were feted with food & drinks that they desire from any of the stalls in the restaurant. They were spoiled for choice as this restaurant had many variety of local snacks and hawker food; ranging from Nasi Lemak to Western Food.
Restoran Vegas even went an extra mile to pack food for the 152 remaining residents of Rumah Seri Kenangan Ulu Kinta, who were bedridden or unable to join this event. Clr Albert Ho Wai Mun was also there, mingling and talking to the senior citizens and their caretakers.
The senior citizens were also entertained by a live band that performed classical and holiday music as they tucked into their food. They were also treated to a lively lion dance and the senior citizens were visibly happy as the lion dancers made their way to their tables, greeting and even posing for photos with them.
As an added treat, the residents of the home were each presented with “Duit Raya” by Yang Amat Mulia Raja Dato’ Sri Yong Sofia Binti Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah. Overall this event was a great success and it’s quite evident when you see the smiles on the senior citizens and their caretakers faces.
