My Ipoh is back with another review and this time around it’s a South Indian restaurant in the heart of Ipoh town. Kala Villas was founded in 2008 and the authentic taste of its food has been kept until this day. The owner who was initially in the line of logistics had a passion for food and took it to the next level by opening Kala Villas restaurant with the support of his wife.
Kala Villas restaurant operates during breakfast and lunch hours. My Ipoh had the opportunity to try out both and here is what we think!
For breakfast, they serve various food from your thosai, roti canai, idli, and their famous nasi lemak to all types of kuih. We enjoyed their freshly made roti canai and thosai served with dhal and many types of delicious curries. We also spoilt ourselves with their kuih right after to go along with our hot coffee and tea. I must say that morning we were left nothing but satisfied with our breakfasts!
We also tried out their lunch and we had tons of side dishes to choose from more than 10 different Indian styled cooked dishes and six different types of curries to choose from alone such as chicken curry, fish curry, and a few types of vegetable curry and their delicious spice-filled rasam to complement our meal. On top of it all, the meal is served on fresh green banana leaves which Indians believe to be healthy because while the hot food is served on the leaf, rich nutrients from the leaf is emitted, which infuses with the food and eventually we intake it as we eat the food. They were also very generous with their serving sizes and we left the restaurant with full stomachs that afternoon.
Restoran Daun Pisang Kala Villas definitely is an eatery that will satisfy your taste buds if you have a liking for aromatic home-cooked style South Indian food. Whether you’ve been missing your mother’s cooking or simply looking to satisfy your craving for a good banana leaf lunch Restoran Daun Pisang Kala Villas will satisfy it all.

Restoran Daun Pisang Kala Villas is a hidden gem. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I was blown away by the flavor and authenticity of their chicken curry, mutton curry, and Indian-style vegetables. The chicken and mutton curries were cooked to perfection, with the tender meat infused with a blend of aromatic spices and herbs that tantalized my taste buds. The vegetable dishes were also exceptional, featuring a medley of vegetables in a flavorful and fragrant curry.
To top it all off, the restaurant also serves mooru, a refreshing yogurt drink that perfectly complemented the spicy dishes. All in all, I would highly recommend Restoran Daun Pisang Kala Villas to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable culinary experience.
