Death of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning queen and a global symbol, is being mourned by billions. 96-year-old

Yesterday, a short statement from Buckingham Palace said that she had died. This led to 10 days of national mourning and a flood of tributes to her long life and record-breaking reign.

The immediate succession of the throne falls to the eldest of her four children, Charles, Prince of Wales, who at age 73 is the oldest heir apparent.
