Pantai Hospital Ipoh, in collaboration with the Ipoh City Council (MBI), today launched the installation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the Tuanku Zara Aquatic Centre, Ipoh, as part of efforts to enhance public safety at one of the city’s main sports and recreational venues.

The launch was officiated by The Honourable Toh Amar Pahlawan Clr. Dato’ Ahmad Hariri bin Kamarudin, MBI Council Member, representing the Mayor of Ipoh, YBhg. Tuan Zamakhshari bin Hanipah.

Also present were Clr. Tuan Wong Kar Keat, Chief WHIP of MBI Council Members; Ms. Yow Huai Mim, Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospital Ipoh; MBI Department Heads; and the management and staff of Pantai Hospital Ipoh.

This AED installation is a noble initiative by Pantai Hospital Ipoh with the support of MBI, bringing significant impact to the community.

The AED facility not only has the potential to save lives in the event of sudden cardiac emergencies, but also fosters cardiovascular health awareness among the public. This effort is in line with MBI’s vision of making Ipoh a safe, healthy, and prosperous city.

The Tuanku Zara Aquatic Centre was chosen as the first AED installation site as it is a landmark water recreation facility frequently visited by the public. Two more AED units will be installed by the end of this year at the Badminton Arena and Perak Stadium, bringing the total to three units at strategic locations around Ipoh.

In his speech, Dato’ Ahmad Hariri expressed appreciation to Pantai Hospital Ipoh, the management of Tuanku Zara Aquatic Centre, relevant agencies, and volunteers who supported this effort.

He also expressed hope that all parties in Ipoh City will work together to ensure this initiative is fully utilised for the safety and wellbeing of Ipoh residents.
