In an innovative corporate social responsibility (CSR) project initiated by the Pantai Hospital Ipoh, kids from as young as five to eight were introduced to basic first aid.

Dubbed the “Healing Bears Project”, they hope to educate kids to be better prepared in an emergency situation.

The event received great response with some 100 participants taking part in the programme yesterday Sunday Sept 25, 2022. Many of them were also accompanied by their parents to give moral support.

The main purpose of the project was to give an opportunity and also to inculcate the children to learn skills pertaining to First Aid (by understanding when to use the different items in the First Aid Kit).

They were also enlightened to administer first aid treatment, learning to bandage wounds and understanding the basics of wound care.

The children were also taken for an ambulance tour around the vicinity of PHI.

There were also health talks shared by obstetrician & gynaecologist, a paediatrician and dietician for the benefit of the parents of the children.

The health talk covered topics such as gynaecological cancer, Influenza in children and children’s diet habits.

At the end of the session, there was an awards ceremony where each child was given a plush bear, a goodie bag and a certificate in recognition of their participation and beneficial mission completed.

Syabas to PHI for hosting this “out of the box” CSR programme to benefit the community.
