Roadside vendors selling “Nasi Kukus” with temporary tents have been found to operate without licenses from the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

In response to this incident, the council has intensified the Integrated Enforcement Operation, involving internal departments, on roadside vendors in that area on 13.12.2023 from 9 am to 10:45 am.

A total of 5 roadside stalls were confiscated, while 2 vendors were fined RM 250.00 each under the Small Traders (MBI) 2020 Act. This action was followed by the issuance of 20 notices under Section 46 of the Road, Drainage & Building Act 1974.

This crackdown is a direct result of the Ipoh City Council’s proactive measures to address the violation committed by these street vendors who were operating without the necessary permits. The intensified enforcement operation not only aims to rectify this specific incident but also serves as a stern reminder to all roadside vendors about the importance of adhering to local regulations.

The ongoing Integrated Enforcement Operation in high-risk locations around the city is a preventive measure to ensure the non-recurrence of similar incidents, maintaining a safe and organized urban environment.

In connection with this, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) seized five roadside stalls near Taman Klebang Putra, including a food stall. This action was taken following an incident involving a school bus that experienced brake and steering issues, nearly colliding with three customers at the stall recently. The seizure is part of MBI’s commitment to ensuring public safety and regulating business activities in the city.
