Launching Of Tourist Police Unit @ Perak

Polis Di-Raja Malaysia (PDRM Perak) along with Perak Tourism organised a townhall session entitled “Semarak Pelancungan ke Arah Pelancongan Selamat Negeri Perak earlier today at the Excelsior Hotel.

The panelists were led by State Exco for Tourism and Local Government, Perak CPO YB Dato’ Nolee Ashilin, Perak CPO Dato’ Pahlawan Mior Faridalathrash Bin Wahid and Perak Tourism CEO, Nurmalis Musa.

Dato’ Mior highlighted the cases on the growing number of online scams of late.

He also urged members of the public to be wary of cyber crime and not to fall victim.

“Perak’s crime index is still at a safe level and members of the public have been shielded by the work of the police force.

“We have also been organising campaigns to raise awareness among the public about these cybercrimes and constant surveillance,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Nolee added that Perak has drawn the attention of scammers due to the rising number of tourists.

“Todate, Perak is be perceived safe for family trips. Perak has been the choice of destination for over two million international tourists over the past month,” she added.

She also added that her office will donate electric scooters for the police force to carry out patrolling duties.

The Perak Tourism Police Unit has also been carrying out frequent patrols at various tourist spots in the state.

Dato Mior added that some 35 personnel have been assigned to oversee tourists in five districts namely, Ipoh, Taiping, Batu Gajah, Kuala Kangsar and Manjung.

“The Perak Tourism Police Unit have succeeded in increasing public safety in these tourist destinations.

“The patrol units are also seen frequently in these areas,” said Dato Mior.

He added that these measures have been able to secure a safe environment for visitors.
