Launch of My Hearing Day 2022 @ Ipoh Parade

Lions Club of Ipoh Evergreen in collaboration with Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital and KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital organized “My Hearing Day” 2022. This event was held in Ipoh Parade on 11 June 2022 from 10 am-5 pm.

The Mayor of Ipoh was to officiate the event but due to other important commitments, he had entrusted City Councilor Albert Ho Wai Mun, to represent and convey his message to the public. He thanked everyone involved in this project and was proud to be part of this wonderful event. CLR Albert Ho is ever willing to support and encourage any association and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in organizing such programs and activities.

CLR Albert Ho, in his speech had stressed the importance of early medical examination as from the medical perspective, prevention is better than cure and it is often easier to treat or cure a condition at an early stage. According to a study, as much as 17.14% of the total population of Malaysians have hearing problems. 1 to 3 out of 1000 babies have congenital or neonatal hearing loss.

Head of Otorhinolaryngology Department, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Dr. Philip Rajan Devesahayam

KPJ Ipoh also had set up booths that offered free blood and pressure checks, TCM booths had free consulting, advice, and acupuncture.

There were many booths specializing in the latest hearing aids, sound-reducing aids and were offering free hearing test and consulting. Message therapy booths were also set up and were seen giving basic massages to the public.

There was even a blood donation drive organized by the HRPB Blood bank. To entice the crowd to join in the event several Lions club member’s were seen handing out free balloons. The primary goal of the event, which is to create awareness on hearing loss, was achieved and overall the event was a huge success.
