The Ipoh City Council (MBI) wishes to inform the public that the implementation period for the Rehabilitation Project of Jalan Tun Abdul Razak Bridge, Ipoh has been extended from the original date of 6 January 2026 to 6 February 2026, for a period of one month.

This extension was granted after taking into consideration the need for initial project coordination to accommodate the Deepavali celebrations, as the scope of works involves the opening and demolition of the bridge’s original structure, which directly affects traffic movement and the activities of the surrounding community.

In addition, heavy and unpredictable rainfall conditions beginning in November and December 2025 have also contributed to frequent delays in on-site works. This is because the Ipoh City Council prioritises safety considerations, work quality, and compliance with technical specifications.

Nevertheless, MBI acknowledges the needs of bridge users for the Thaipusam celebrations, which involve Kavadi processions and individual participants performing religious rites.

Accordingly, MBI will allow the bridge to be used exclusively for the purpose of the said celebrations from 28 January 2026 to 2 February 2026, subject to compliance with certain conditions.

MBI assures the public that this extension is a necessary and responsible measure to ensure the safety of road users, the quality of bridge construction, and the long-term interests of Ipoh’s urban development.

All efforts are being and will continue to be undertaken to minimise inconvenience to the public throughout the duration of the works.

MBI greatly appreciates the cooperation, patience, and support of the public to ensure that this project can be completed safely, in an orderly manner, and will provide lasting benefits to the people of Ipoh.
