Fancy a 100 year old Rojak N Cendol ?


Rojak N Cendol Padang Ipoh began operating almost a century ago. Its prominent location along Jalan Tun Sambanthan, in front of Ipoh Padang, is well known to both tourists and residents of Ipoh. Over the years, it has developed into the preferred location for local delights among the residents.

In the past Encik Yunus’ forefathers carried the cooked sauce and ingredients on their shoulders in big pots around Ipoh, however nowadays Encik Yunus has opened his café-style restaurant so that customers could dine in comfort. Although this business has evolved thru time, the original flavours and recipes have been maintained to this day. Just about all the weddings, family gatherings, and even official government events in Perak have included their cendol as a dessert.

Some of the recipes that have won over customers’ hearts and palates include their legendary Mee Rojak Sotong, Mee Rebus, and Mee Goreng, where their squids are freshly supplied from Pantai Remis and he still personally acquires each food item to maintain the quality of the dishes.

Each meal must be ended with a dessert, such as their Ais kacang or Cendol Mangga and is unquestionably a must-try for all visitors.

Encik Yunus surprised us with his much-raved about Mee Rojak Sotong and Cendol Mangga. The perfect combination of sweet, tangy, salty and spicy coarse peanut sauce was mixed with the mee which made this dish delicious. The sotong that came with the dish was quite large and satisfying. The creamy cendol, topped with succulent fresh mangoes, was a “cooling way” to end our meal. Unquestionably, it gets two thumbs up!!

It’s now time to burn those calories in Ipoh Padang!!

At the end of the interview, Encik Yunus also shared some exciting news about his intention to expand  Rojak N Cendol Padang Ipoh to various locations around the country so that people outside of Ipoh may experience the deliciousness of his rojak and cendol.
