The spirit of Christmas was warmly felt at the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM)–Caritas Homes of Hope in Kampung Simee, where the Rotary Club of Greentown, in collaboration with NCSM–Caritas Homes of Hope, hosted a heartfelt Christmas celebration centred on compassion, hope and togetherness.

Held at the Level 2 Hall, the event carried the theme “Live Fully, Give Generously & Spread Happiness” and brought together 83 attendees, including Rotarians and friends, cancer-surviving children and adults, their families, as well as volunteers and staff. The celebration aimed to bring joy and cheer, especially to cancer-surviving children, reminding them and their families that they are not alone in their journey.

Ten children attended the event with their families and were visibly delighted as Santa Claus presented them with their personalised “Wish List Gifts”, generously contributed by Rotarians and well-wishers. In addition, the children received gifts from both NCSM–Caritas Homes of Hope and the Rotary Club of Greentown. Adult cancer survivors were also remembered with gifts from NCSM–Caritas Homes of Hope and supporters, adding to the festive atmosphere of care and appreciation.

The programme was enlivened by a two-piece band who led the crowd in Christmas carols, creating a joyful and inclusive ambience. Guests were further entertained by three dance performances by children and a former member of the Rotary Club of Greentown. Games for both children and adults encouraged participation and laughter throughout the celebration.

The event was graced by the presence of Professor Dr Murallitharan M., Managing Director of the National Cancer Society Malaysia, who commended the collaborative efforts and the positive impact of such initiatives on cancer survivors and their families.

Sincere appreciation was extended to Miss Anna Mary, Home Coordinator of NCSM–Caritas Homes of Hope, and her dedicated team for their meticulous preparation and support, which contributed significantly to the success of the event. The organising chair, Rotarian Catherine Anne, also played a key role in bringing the celebration together.

The resilience and positivity of the cancer-surviving children and adults stood out as a source of inspiration for all present. The celebration concluded on a high note with a sumptuous lunch, leaving attendees with cherished memories of a meaningful Christmas gathering.

True to its mission, Rotary once again demonstrated its commitment to spreading joy and hope — united for good.
